Joseph Smith’s Polytheist Mormon Cult

The story of the Mormons (the Latter-day Saints) begins in the 1820s, when Joseph Smith (b.Dec.23,1805) first started receiving “visions” from God.  These private visions were provided to the convicted criminal, “hat gazing” Smith by the Angel Moron-i.  He became convinced that Christian churches had been following false teachings since 100 AD.  (see  Early Church writings of Irenaeus et al. for reliability of Christian Doctrine)  Smith set out to restore the Church “to what Jesus intended it to be.”
A key divergence between orthodox Christians and Mormons is that Christians believe in a “closed canon” of Scripture.  Christians believe the Bible is a special, completed revelation from God that cannot be superseded, added to, or changed.  Smith established an open canon, which allowed him to introduce new Holy books like The Book of Mormon and The Pearl of Great Price.  This gave him and his successors the license to make new pronouncements about doctrine as needed, based on “new revelation.”
The Key Mormon Doctrine of Eternal Progression is based on the Lorenzo Snow couplet:

“As man now is, God once was:
As God now is, man may become.”

Christians, and Jews, teach that God is the creator of everything.  Mormons believe, “the heavenly Father” is really an exalted man.  He is one of a ‘species’ that Mormons call ‘gods.’  This is polytheism!  Individuals who follow Mormon teachings (largely works based in nature) can participate in the “eternal progression” and become gods themselves.  This teaching originated in Genesis 3 where Satan asserts, “Ye shall be as gods.”  Mainstream Christians believe God created the universe ex nihilo – out of nothing.  Not even time and space existed until God created everything.  Mormons explain the universe as beginning with the “preexistence.”  Before gods or humans existed in their current physical state, they existed as another type of matter.  This matter is full of “intelligences” that have the capacity to become beings. “For Mormons, God is not eternal, matter is eternal.” (And who created this matter?)
Father-God was one of the intelligences that progressed from spirit to a human body that “once dwelled on earth.”  He died, was resurrected, and now reigns from a throne near a star called Kolob as a flesh and blood god.  Father-God, with the help of another exalted being called Mother-God, gave birth to “spirit children.”  Firstborn was Jesus – some Mormon leaders have taught that Father –God had intercourse with Mary and conceived a body for Jesus – then Lucifer, and then all others that would live on Earth.  Father –God announced a plan to test all of his children on Earth, allowing some to be saved through Jesus.  A jealous Lucifer led a rebellion and was punished with life on Earth, as a bodyless spirit.  Those who “fought halfheartedly were sentenced to be born mortal with black skin.” (This would explain why blacks have traditionally been excluded from membership in Mormon leadership.)
According to Mormon lore, Jesus lived a perfect and holy life, was crucified, and was resurrected.  Jesus then came to the Americas, where He visited the Nephites, a people descended from the lost tribes of Israel.  (No Semetic DNA, NONE! Just More Fantastic LIES)
Jesus’ followers founded the Church, but after the persecution of Emperor Nero, false teachers led the Christian Church astray.
This situation lasted until 1830 when Joseph Smith began his reform and reestablished the Church. (Walter Martin states that Smith began his assault on Christianity stating, God told him that “All Churches and creeds were an abomination in the site of the Lord.”)  After death, those who have followed Mormon doctrine enjoy a state of being known as the Celestial Kingdom.  They are exalted to godhood and have the opportunity to continue the cycle by creating their own spirit children and ruling their own planets.

Mormonism recognizes four key texts, or Holy Books.  The Book of Mormon tells the one-thousand year story of Israelite refugees who fled to the Americas and received a revelation from the resurrected Jesus.  Doctrine and Covenants consists of instructional lectures; and the Pearl of Great Price includes the controversial reworking of the story of Abraham from the biblical book of Genesis.  Mormons accept the Bible “as long as it is properly translated.”  They publish their own plagiarized version of the King James Bible, complete w/ footnotes on Mormon doctrine and quotes!  The Spalding-Rigdon plagiarism fiasco has proved quite damning as well.  LDS leaders have taught polygamy.  Lying “pervy” Smith used polyandry 14 times, marrying girls as young as 14, and their mothers.  Mormons teach an odd Celestial marriage story that will last for eternity etc. The Mormons resemble the Jehoveh’s Witnesses in the sense that they are also discouraged from learning anything not sanctioned by the LDS Church.  Numerous reputable Ex-Mormons, such as the Wilder family, sincerely attest to this controlling cultish behavior.  Members are threatened, and ostracized, to protect the multi-billion dollar interests of the business known today as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Follow the money.

Whether Mormons are actually Christian has been a contentious issue in modern times.  Traditionally, they have been considered outside the bounds of orthodox Christianity. There has been a concerted campaign in the last 50 years to change the cultish image of the Mormon Church; even going so far as to change their name to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  This well-funded media campaign was made as an attempt to hoodwink the public into believing that Mormons are authentic Christians.
Mormon practices and terminologies demonstrate that they are not Christian.  Most importantly, the Mormon Jesus is different from the Jesus of Christianity.  For Mormons, Jesus is the created “spirit brother of Lucifer” and not eternal.  The Bible is the only one of four Mormon source books not considered perfect and has been subject to much “correction.”  The Joseph Smith Bible is a prime example of Mormon fraud and dishonesty fabricated for the sake of expediency.   Supposedly “perfect” Mormon texts have been revised more than 4,000 times!  This demonstrates an “open canon” of scripture that has been brazenly changed “as needed”  by LDS Presidents and other “prophets.”  Again, this can only be considered the behavior of a cult that is in no way Christian.
